Trainers Update December 2022

Hello Trainers!

The end of year has come around very quickly, and we would like to wish all trainers a very safe and merry Christmas and new year. We will be operating on low staff over the next week and working Wednesday to Friday on reduced hours (not public holidays), to allow everyone to enjoy the festive season.

Please find below and end of year update on a few matters key items:

TAE Requirements (TAE40122)

The updated TAE requirements have been finalised and we wold like to provide you with the updated information. Please download this update and review the information. Please note that alongside the current changes to the TAE, the RTO standards are presently under review so further changes in the future may be required.

Training Requirement (Length of Training Courses)

Every couple of years each RTO is required to undergo an audit and re-apply for registration. RLSSQ will be undertaking this process in 2023. Information of interest into the length of course delivery (hours of delivery) has been targeted. We ask that all trainers continue to ensure that they are advertising and conducting courses at the correct length as per the TAS (Training and Assessment Strategies) unless you provide an updated TAS detailing changes and how you are assessing competence in a shortened timeframe on a case by case basis.

New Units of Competence – SIS (Sport Aquatic Recreation)

The new Units of Competence have now been released for the SIS training package. RLSSQ will be updating all courses materials that are impacted over the course of 2023. There is a 12 month transition to the new units. We will provide more information in due course and until the new units are rolled out, all courses will continue unchanged.

Please not that many of the current units in the SIS training package are being superseded and are not-equivalent, therefore will require trainers and participants to upgrade to the new units at the next re-accreditation.

Certificate Issuance

As we head towards the end of year, we would like to remined trainers of the importance of returning workbooks within five (5) days of course completion. Many students are now expecting certificate turnaround much faster than 30 days, and to assist us issue certificates as quickly as possible, it would be appreciated if trainers could return workbooks with an ARF as quickly as possible.
