USI – Supporting International Students International students can now create a USI, they must land in Australia and go through customs before they can create a USI using their passport and visa as a form of ID. ASQA Announcement ASQA have advised, that from 1 July 2022 the superseded version first aid units (HLTAID001-008) should no longer be delivered in any context. Some employers (mostly Child Care related) were seeking these units be issued instead of the newer units, and we are now unable to do this. Safe Handling Gas Cylinders Just a reminder to Trainers that travel with gas cylinders for their courses, to review the safe handling information (see below) and ensure that themselves and participants handle gas cylinders safely. Please ensure you have any and all appropriate documentation available and on hand if required: Handle Medical Gases Safely Medical Oxygen and Inhalo Trainers Professional Development Please find below a suggestion for Professional Development that trainers can undertake: anaphylaxis e-training for first aid (ascia.org.au) Drowning at Sydney Olympic Park Pool Please see the below article which demonstrates the importance of teaching teens and school students water safety:Three teenagers rescue five-year-old boy drowning in Sydney pool Goods Return Form If you are needing to return packs please use our Goods Return Form and send it with complete packs. This form is available on the ‘Forms & Documents‘ page on our website. Participant bookings Please ensure any participant that is attending a course is registered (electronically) at www.lifesavingtraining.com.au. There has been an increased number of participants not being electronically registered in to courses. Electronic registration allows for very quick issuance of certificates. If we need to rely on the paper workbooks, this causes delays and sometime non-issuance of certificates if we cannot make contact with the participant due to poor handwriting of students. Pool Lifeguard – First Aid Pre-requisites We ask Trainers to check that all participants hold the required pre-requisites prior to attending a course. We are receiving a large number of workbooks returned by trainers to find that participants are completing a Pool Lifeguard course without having a First Aid certificate. We do contact student to obtain a copy of the pre-requisite, however many students claim they have not been advised to provide this. It is good practice for Trainers to receive a copy of any pre-requisites and attach them to the participants workbook before sending them to us. |

Course Pack Prices The last significant change in course pack prices was a few years ago, however in that time there has been a cost rise. We are cognisant of maintaining cost effective packs for trainers, but also need to cover the cost of servicing trainers and producing materials. In this regard we are reviewing pack prices however are of the view that if there is a pack price increase, the retail price of the course wil generally increase so that the margin to trainers will be unchanged. Course Information Sheet and Booking Email Template We have updated our course booking email template and attach the following information sheets for students: Face to Face Course Information Sheet Blended Course Information Sheet Please would you take a few minutes to read these documents so you are aware of information your students will receive. Please feel free to let us know any feedback in respect to any of the abovementioned topics. |
